Teething Troubles

Emily has been showing the signs of teething for months now, but we've yet to see a tooth. She's been really big into putting everything in her mouth, but about 3 or 4 weeks ago, we could tell that things were going into her mouth for the purpose of soothing her gums. She started gnawing on things and began pinching her gums and lips together. The pinched lips meant a new smile, and we are really missing that big, open-mouth grin! Her new smile is sweet, though, and some of her new faces are really making us laugh!

The next week, she was still waking up groaning with pinched lips, and we thought some teeth would be popping out any minute. We were wrong! It was a week of holding and cuddling. She even started doing her insecure cry again. Everything scared her, and she just wanted me to hold her.
She didn't feel like playing, so we decided to relax
in the floor and watch some Baby Einstein.

Even though she didn't feel well, I still got this sweet
grin when she looked back and saw me snapping a picture.
We even tried some teething biscuits which she seemed
to like pretty well. Boy, are they messy!

This week she's still wanting to be held quite a bit, but we've added a new teething sign... a runny nose. Did anyone else have a child who did this? She sounds congested while sleeping and her nose has been running all day. (I guess it's teething. I don't think she's sick.) She is currently asleep, propped up on a foam wedge I used during pregnancy. She keeps coughing with all the drainage in her throat, and I'm having to go over and soothe her pretty often.

Our poor baby girl is having a hard time, and there are still no teeth to be seen! It looks like we might be in for a long night...... :)

We got those mesh baby feeder things and would stick a frozen peach/fruit in them and it seemed to help William so much. Hang in there Ang.

Oh yes, both my boys were/are SNOT CITY with teeth coming in. And it takes weeks (months, really) for them to come in!!! Hang in there. I try to remind myself to be thankful they have teeth :)! Emily is getting cuter and cuter!!

Yuck, teething sounds like no fun. She looks happy chewing on her teething toy though! Hopefully it will get better soon.
