Emily Begins Preschool

Our baby girl is beginning preschool!  We attended a Tea Party at her school today and met her teachers and classmates.  Emily is excited and ready.  I'm not sure Brad and I are.  ;-)  We are so proud of our sweet Emily and pray that she will do beautifully, but it is so hard to let her out from under my wings!  I've spent so much effort over the past almost 5 years protecting her innocence and shielding her from hurt, and next Wednesday.....we lift our wings and send her off.  It's incredibly frightening but also an amazingly beautiful thing.  We can't wait to see all that God has planned for her to be.

Last night at bedtime, Emily picked the book The Oak Inside the Acorn by Max Lucado.  We had never read this book before, and how appropriate that this be the book that we held the night before her preschool tea!  In Lucado's story, a little acorn must gain courage and let go of his mother oak tree as she encourages, "Within you is a great oak.  Just be the tree God made you to be."  I, of course, was reading with tears flowing down my cheeks by page 2, but it did remind me that I DO have to let go, and it WILL be amazing to see what our precious Emily becomes.  She has grown and changed SO MUCH since starting her growth hormone injections in April, and we think she is growing into an even more amazing little girl than she already was.  We are so proud of her and know there is so much WONDERFUL ahead!

Have fun, Emily, and be the precious girl that God made you to be!  Mommy, Daddy, and Hunter love you SO MUCH!

Those are some REAL Emily smiles! Mommy and Daddy have done more than an amazing job so far, and Em is well prepared for this exciting next step. What a perfect (and emotionally wrenching) book. You know you are doing the very best thing you can do for her. That being said, I absolutely cannot believe that this precious girl that I knew even before birth, could possibly be starting preschool! Where does the time go?

Nooo!...you don't have to let go! Stay and watch preschool from the carport up the hill. With binoculers you don't even have to wait for recess when shes outside. you can see right in!
