Boston- March 3-8th

Almost 2 months later, I am finally getting my pictures together from our Boston trip back in March. I had downloaded the pictures, and after making 2 rounds of cuts, I still had 93 pictures. I've thought and thought about which ones to eliminate, and......well, I can't eliminate any more! This is our family scrapbook, so all 93 pictures are going on the blog! I've divided it up into 4 separate posts, so maybe that will make it seem shorter for those of you who want to brave it out through them all. :0)

We started our trip by driving to Memphis to stay overnight with Brad's aunt and uncle. Our flight left out early, so we thought we'd be organized and head up a night early. In the wee hours of the morning, as I was getting ready, the airline called to say that our non-stop flight had been canceled and we'd been moved to a noon flight with a layover. I finished drying my hair and went back to bed. Another call arrived shortly after saying that the noon flight was canceled and we'd been moved to another flight that left earlier than our original one. We high-tailed it out of bed, dressed the kids, and threw them into Rick and Annette's arms while we stuffed the suitcases back together and loaded the car. We made it, but it definitely got our adrenaline pumping! Thanks, Rick and Annette!!

Our new flight touched down in Washington, D.C. on the way to Boston. The kids handled the extra landing, take-off, and plane switch really well. We were so thankful! Hunter cried a little on the first descent, but we think it had more to do with the stranger flight attendant holding him than the descent itself. Once he was handed back to us again, he did fine. We were so happy that they both did so well!

We had a wonderful trip! Brad attended a geriatrics conference at Harvard, and we enjoyed going back to visit Boston again. There's something about that city that we just love! This trip was extra special because our friends Ashley, Jennifer, and baby Kenzie (that lived with us a few months last year) are finishing out their year in Boston for Ashley's fellowship. We loved getting to hang out with them and have some familiar faces around while we explored. :0)

Now on to the pictures.......

Emily (3) and Hunter (6 months)-
Hunter marked his 6 month birthday
with his very first airplane ride!
And Emily went tee tee on an airplane
for the very first time! :0) Of course, we hit turbulence
right when Daddy took her back!
She came back and told
me that she felt the plane moving.
Super quick plane change in Washington, D.C.
Take-off #2-
I had to sit across the aisle from Brad and the kids
on this flight, which was a little hard on Emily at first.
It was hard on me the entire time! :0)
Hunter's not too sure about his first taxi ride! The hospital put us up in Four Seasons of Boston!
WOW, was it nice!! They rolled out this little red wagon
when we arrived, and the kids each got to pick out a toy.
Each time we came and went the rest of the trip, they
spoke to our children and remembered them by name!
Our room was spectacular! They brought in a small
refrigerator for our baby food and a crib with linens matching
our bed. The service was unbelievable! They even laid out slippers
for each of us when they turned down our bed each night.
They were like magical fairies who appeared every time we left.

Our view

Emily had milk and cookies delivered to her the first night!
They brought a little bib, apple sauce, and a Gerber bar for
Hunter. I'm telling you, the service was unbelievable!
We headed over to Ashley and Jennifer's apartment,
and they let us borrow this nice rig while we were there.
This was a true Boston stroller--zip the baby up and go!
Hunter was worn out from all the traveling and
slept in style! Check out the basket of baby washcloths,
diapers, and wipies they left in his bed. They even brought
different sizes when I didn't use any the first night.
Boston has had lots of snow this year, but this city never stops. They just plowed the snow back into these GIANT piles and kept on trucking!
Boston Public Garden
The lake is drained for ice skating each winter.
Statues honoring the book 'Make Way for Ducklings' written about a group of ducks who live in the Boston Public Garden.
It is COLD in Boston! Check out that
sweet little red nose!
Ice skating!
