Emily's First Haircut

Brad and I have been thinking for quite some time now that baby girl needed a haircut, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to cut off those sweet baby curls. We decided that her second birthday would be a good occasion to finally make ourselves get it cut. I suppose her 2 year old pictures would be a good time to show case a new "big girl" do.

All three of us went January 19th to get our hair cuts. Emily and I practiced being still, and she was super excited about the sucker I had brought along for after her cut. Daddy got his hair cut first, and Emily was very interested in his "apron" and the razor used on the back of his hair. She was getting excited!

Emily was up next, and she did great! She sat as still as a statue on her little booster seat and only moved her eyes to look side to side at us when we talked to her. She was very serious about her big cut, and it was adorable! She loved her ice cream "apron" and grinned so big as Ms Magen showed her the new cut in the mirror!

Believe it or not, I held myself together pretty well. I teared up once, but there were no actual streaming tears during the cut. Brad got a little emotional as we were collecting the curls for her baby book and commented on how old she looked now. (He had made fun of me earlier in the day for getting emotional about a hair cut, so I was glad to see he let it "hit" him. I had told him earlier that morning that I wanted to wash her hair one last time, and he joked that we weren't sacrificing her, just getting her hair cut! But you moms out there get it, right?!)

We are loving her new haircut. Her hair looks so much thicker, and we think she's absolutely adorable. And you should see the faces she makes at herself in the mirror now while we're drying her hair!!! Oh, what a silly girl!
