Before surgery, Emily was showered with gifts! Scott, Valerie, and Tanner brought Emily her very own dog (stuffed animal). Emily has been keeping an eye on Tanner's dog, Huck, and Valerie got one for her very own! Grandmother and Pappy sent the sweetest card and $5 for her piggy bank. Aunt Ellen sent a Ring Pop. Big Daddy and K gave her a special book and a moving stuffed animal cow. My mom made an adorable pink tutu-- Emily's dancing skirt. And my sisters sent a princess wand, tiara, and pink, sparkly shoes to match the tutu. Emily has been wearing her tutu and shoes for hours on end! We appreciate everyone who made our little girl feel so special with gifts, calls, and texts!!
Performing after she opened her gifts
Emily did great with the surgery, and we hope to see lots of positive changes in the future! Here are some pictures from her big day!
Waiting to be called back-- 6:30 a.m.
...until we took her pig pajama shirt off.
In her gown and back to the fun stuff--
puzzles and books!
Melanie and Lanie were there for tubes, too!
Lanie is a friend from church who was born 3 days
before Emily, so it was crazy that they were in
the hospital on the exact same day!
You can see the nurse coming to get Emily in the background of the picture above. I was really nervous about her being taken away, but she did beautifully! When the nurse mentioned something about going back to see a balloon, Emily reached out her little arms to her, and away they went! Within 15 minutes, she was back in my arms again! She was definitely not "herself" as she came out of anesthesia, throwing herself around in my arms and making very little eye contact. Once out the door and in our car, she started calming down.
We settled in for a 3 hour nap once home....
....and when she woke up, she was "herself" again!
Notice those pink, sparkly shoes that she wanted
to wear again!
We headed out for a late lunch at Abner's.
(She does better being out of the house and entertained!)
Then it was back home for another nap. She slept until
K, Big Daddy, and Uncle Tyler came to see her on
their way to church. She loved the cow they brought!
And I couldn't resist this picture in her tutu!
We played and then settled down for the night
in this t-shirt that they gave Emily the day
we did our pre-op paperwork at the Surgery Center.
She was so proud of her bear shirt!
Oh, and Emily has been so helpful with her eardrops!
:0) When we ask what was wrong with her ears,
she tells us they were "broke." Then we ask what the
doctor did and she says "ix" -- he fixed them!
