My granddad, Pappy, turned 89 on May 12th. We had a small family party at my grandparents' house, complete with pizza, presents, cake, and balloons. It was at this party last year (Pappy's 88th) that Emily had her first taste of cake. It was accidental--she swiped the corner of the cake before I knew what was happening! My grandparents are so special to me. We live just a few blocks from them, and I try to take Emily by regularly to see them. I know how BLESSED I am to have such wonderful grandparents to spend time with. I also know what a blessing it is for Emily to have two healthy, devoted great-grandparents. They are absolutely crazy about her, and it makes me teary-eyed thinking about how much they love her and how much she loves "Pa-pee" and "Ma-Ma." I thank God for their presence and active part in my life each day!
Emily loves her Pappy!
We've also had lots of "friend" birthday parties recently. Emily loves her friends at church and runs to class each Sunday and Wednesday. When we drive by the church building, she points and squeals their names, and I think that is so precious! I'm very thankful that so many little ones, from so many good families, came along at the same time. As hard as it is for me to think about Emily growing up, I realize that these will be her friends as she grows, and I'm thankful that she'll have these kids (and their good Christian parents) to be around. She has loved going to their first birthday parties in the last few months!
These gals are ALWAYS the first on Emily's list when
we ask her who her church friends are--

These pictures aren't from birthday parties, but I thought this was a good place to include them. I had my camera with me on Father's Day and snapped a few shots of the kids in class. Lots of us were out of town with the holiday, so I wasn't able to get a shot of the whole group. And the ones that were there were a wee bit fussy.....it was one of THOSE Sundays! :)
Emily, Jonah, Maddy, Kate, Jackson
The quality isn't very good in this picture, but I had
to include it. Emily has started pouncing on Jackson's
blanket when he's not watching. They end up dragging it
all over the room, one on each end. This is funny to me, because
Emily is not attached to anything like that at home....
just Jackson's blanket!

I love Pappy and Grandmother as well! They are so dear! I'm glad Emily has so many kids in her class to grow up with. That means so much, especially when they get older. K
Great post! I can't believe how big Emily is getting! I just love the little lace socks! Too cute!
It looks like you guys have been busy!! Mckinley's comforter is from Pottery Barn . . we got it a couple of months ago and they no longer had any of the sheets or bedskirts that matched . .just the comforter and pillow shams, so I don't know if you can still get those or not!
