Yesterday I went for another doctor's visit, and for the first time in my pregnancy I actually felt bad about myself. Up until this point, I have been completely content with my pregnant body. Sure, it's a little awkward, but I don't have to suck my stomach in and people don't look at me in disgust as I stuff my face with food. I'm really clumsy, but everyone thinks it's cute. (This week I actually rammed my head into the trunk as I was loading groceries into the car. A few hours later, I raised up into our kitchen chandelier and gave myself another good whack in the head. Many hormonal tears followed, of course!)
At the doctor, I had my glucose tolerance test so I was feeling a little queasy from that drink, and then it just got worse. The doctor commented on the fact that my ankles were swelling. (I'd been on my feet all day, so of course they were swelling. Please don't point it out to me!) Then when he looked at my weight gain and saw my belly, he gave a little gasp! Shouldn't that be illegal?! I had gained 10 pounds this month, and he said I must have hit my blossoming point. Emily was measuring about a week further than I am, and everything was fine. But then..... he told me I should start walking morning and night. Now I know that I am extremely sensitive, and this normally would not phase me, but yesterday it knocked my self esteem right out from under me!
So what did I do? I went out and got all my hair cut off like any sane woman would do! :)

I am so sorry you had a bad day! I hope you have a better day today....You are beautiful and I am sure your hair is cute :)
bless your heart! that SHOULD be illegal to gasp at your belly. with campbell i gained 13 pounds one month, and my doctor didn't say anything. you just don't let him bother you. i'm sure you are beautiful!! by the way, where's a picture of the new do?
I TOTALLY understand. Several weeks ago I went in and was told I had gained 4 pounds in 6 days. And then just a few minutes ago I was looking at my ankles wondering if they could get any bigger!! Oh well, it will all be worth it....Weight Watcher's here we come (that is....AFTER these babies arrive!!)
Awww, don't feel bad. I had a 9 lb. month, no big deal. Everyone gains weight at different times! I didn't have the swelling, but I was on bedrest (would have rather had the swelling!)! Post a picture of your new do' I am sure it is precious!
That was so mean! I would have cried the whole way home! I didn't gain anything at first and then BAM! It all showed up really quick! You are beautiful and please show me a pregnant woman that isn't swollen somewhere, I mean come on! My wedding ring doesn't have a chance to make it off my finger right now! Now let's see that new haircut!!! :)
Angie, Your haircut is so cute! I love it, and it's so flattering and updated. It's ok that you gained weight, because you haven't gained hardly any weight until now. I was worried, because you had't gained much weight. You really look cute pregnant! Several people at church have commented to me about how cute you look. Love you, Mrs. Kathy
I'm sorry too that you had a bad day. You deserved something good after all that...enjoy the haircut. By the way, you look so good in all of the beach pictures.
Oh, ANGIE. I am so sorry. That's what you get for having a guy doctor. I can't believe he gasped!!! And to suggest you walk! He should have just asked what your exercise schedule was- that would have been more tactful! And I can't wait to see a picture of your new haircut. You always looked cute with it short. I'm sure your "blossom" of Emily is beautiful. =)
I'm sorry you had a bad day! If it makes you feel any better I could probably gain 10 pounds in one week not pregnant : ) I'm sure your hair is adorable. Can't wait to see it!!
WHAT??? You got your hair cut off?? Do not feel bad! We all have hit our "blossoming" points! :) Just be thankful everything is still good with Emily and that you don't have to work! YEAH! I can't wait to see you!
Doesn't the doc know better to say such things to women with lots of extra hormones? Don't worry about it at all 10 lbs in one month isn't that big of a deal- after all you are making another life in there.
Your doc needs to take sensitivity training!! I had gained 10 lbs in 2 weeks after our babymoon and my doc very sweetly acted like it was no big deal! You enjoy your pregnant body and hold your head high. You look fabulous!
Aw, Angi, you are so gorgeous no matter what!! And I feel like Lindsay, I'm not even preggo and I have to make sure I don't gain 10 lbs in one month NOW!! haha.
