The Perfect Thanksgiving

Tonight, one day before Thanksgiving, I had my perfect Thanksgiving. We gathered around our dining room table with some of the people I am most thankful for and enjoyed a wonderful meal together. Brad pulled out all the stops and made a glazed ham, homemade mashed potatoes drizzled in cheese and bacon, perfectly buttered lima beans, crescent rolls, and a from-scratch cranberry sauce. The meal was absolutely perfect as we sat down at the table with my mom and grandparents, Brad's parents and brother, and our dear friends, the Sweeneys. And my precious, precious husband made the night everything I have always dreamed about by telling what he was thankful for and passing the question off to everyone around the table. I have ALWAYS dreamed of that Hallmark moment-- everyone sitting around one table, and one by one, everyone giving thanks. The moment was perfect, and tears have come to my eyes again and again tonight as I think about my Brad stepping out and starting that conversation....for me....because he knew that is something I have always wanted. My Brad loves me so much that he does everything he can to give me everything I've ever dreamed of. Thank you, God, for allowing this man to be my husband! Thank you for allowing me to have these moments of joy. Thank you for providing us with your Son and the hope of Heaven! Thank you for my healthy, beautiful children. Thank you for our families and friendships. Boy, do we have it good!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and are able to savor (in the words of Sara Walker) moments with those you hold the dearest here on Earth.

Emily tickled that Pappy called the pumpkin
in the middle of the table a turkey-
Mom, Grandmother, and Pappy tickled that
Emily is so tickled-
I'm so thankful to have my grandparents sitting
around the table this year!

Happy Thanksgiving! How blessed we are!
