I did it. I sent my baby girl "out into the world." She is now at her first day of Mother's Day Out, and I'm holding myself together as well as can be expected. :0) Just kidding--we all handled it well!
I'd been feeling that Emily was getting a little bored at home, and when we found out one of Emily's church friends was starting MDO, we decided to look into it. Emily, Hunter, and I visited on Monday, and Emily was very excited about it. We went shopping to pick out her lunch yesterday, and we agreed upon and laid out her outfit for her first day. (quite a feat at our house) In the bathtub, she told me she was a little nervous about the other kids, but we talked and she seemed ready. She went to bed excited and woke up the same way.
She was so sweet as I got her out of the car, telling Hunter, "This is Sister's school. Follow Sister, Hunter." We arrived just at 8:30 and were the first ones there. (Yes, a laid back start time......PERFECT for us!!) Emily got to talk to her friend, Maddy, in the class down the hall, and we ventured back to her class to see Caroline. She hung up her lunch box and started working on puzzles. She was perfectly content and everything "felt right" so we were off after a hug and a kiss. Hunter wanted to stay with her, and she was shoving him out of her seat and telling him to go away. Yep, she's ready for this! :0)
Hunter and I went for a special breakfast at Shipley's Donuts (where he was happiest with his very own cup of water and straw) and then ventured over to see the pumpkins at the nursery next door. We stopped at an antiques market I've been wanting to check out, and now we're back at home for his nap.
Oh, I guess I should mention that I did swing back through the parking lot of MDO on the way home.......just in case they were on the playground and I could get a glimpse of how she was doing. She was hanging out by herself next to the playground, but she did her happy-go-lucky walk over to a tricycle, and I knew she was fine. She was taking it all in and enjoying herself. Whew! (Sorry, I know I'm a little crazy.)
I'm not planning on getting too much done today-- just enjoying myself. I might even get crazy and paint my toenails. Watch out! :0)
I'm so thankful things went well this morning, and I can't wait to pick my girl up and see how her day went!

Miss y'all!

I am really proud of you and Emily. It is making me teary-eyed just thinking about taking her to school for the first time :-) Glad you caught a small break and got to spend a mommy-son day with H. You are making me really want one of those Shipley's donuts :-) I would definitely have driven by that playground to try to catch a glimpse!
I am so impressed! I cried every year on the first day of MDO for William. Yup every year. Glad you had a good start and hope this is a blessing for you both!
