Family of 3 Week

The time is winding down, and it's looking like this could be our last week as a family of 3. The doctor has talked to us about induction at the last 2 visits, and I'm not sure we're going to be able to stretch this pregnancy out much longer. At our visit Thursday, Hunter's head was measuring 39 weeks 4 days, so growth has slowed significantly since he's dropped into place, but he's still ahead of schedule. (I was 38 weeks that day.) So......my doctor isn't comfortable with waiting too much longer, and it's looking like we'll be inducing at the end of this week. Of course, you never know definitely until the last minute, but that's what we're guessing is in store for Thursday's appointment. As hard as the last few weeks of the pregnancy are, we are definitely not rushing things this time around! We know what is about to hit, and I'm just not sure how well I'll handle the no sleep period and the balance of time between 2 children. (Such concern over your first "baby" once another is on the way!!)

We've been really trying to soak up these last few days with just the 3 of us. Brad got up and made us all breakfast before church this morning and then later we all snuggled into bed for our last Sunday afternoon nap with just the three of us. We're really trying to spend lots of quality time together and enjoy all those giggles and hugs from our sweet girl. We know things are going to be hectic and so different for a while after Hunter arrives. We've been talking with Emily about how things will go for the birth, and it's really getting all of us excited. She can't wait to be a big sister and hold her baby brother! I'm already teary eyed thinking about watching them together and continue to pray that they will be the best of buddies as they grow!

Just wanted to let you know that just remember all the worries and fears you had about becoming a mom of 1 and as soon as she came, it came naturally. Yes, it's harder to handle two, but it is so amazing to get to see your first baby love her new sibling. You will be a lot less nervous, etc about this second baby and you know what to expect so in some ways, it makes it easier. Just make sure emily thinks yall are bringing this baby home just for her and you "need" her help and couldn't do it without her. One piece of advice I have and STRONGLY recommend is to have Emily stay with your mom or brad's mom for a few days when you come home so you can adjust to nursing, no sleep etc. that way, you can have it a little more together when Emily is home to stay. You won't be as short with her climbing on you while your nursing, when you have gotten the hang of it better, etc. praying for you and family!

I can't believe Hunter (our future son-in-law for those of you who don't know) is almost here! Emily will be such a loving big sister and you and Brad will get right into the groove as the professional parents you are. We have learned so much from watching you with Emily, and we admire your patience and the way you make it seem so easy. Soak up these days (for sure), but you need your little man soon to help you use up all this love you have in your heart!
