Emily also has a new fascination with bugs. Yes, this is letting you know that I should vacuum more often! Between the 1 year old, 2 dogs, and a lot of foot traffic at our house, the corners start looking a little Halloweenesque..... Here is my sweet little girly girl, dressed in her Sunday best--walking in to my room to show me a bug she found while I was dressing for church. Let's hope this 'fascination' fades away soon! (Or at least that I get around to vacuuming in the next few days!)
On the way to the beach, we bought this sucker as a little happy. In all the beach excitement, however, we forgot to let her eat it. She found it when we were unpacking and has been very persistent in keeping up with her "ucker." After she insisted on carrying her sucker to church Sunday night and holding it through services, we decided it was time to let the child partake. She was not disappointed, and we could hardly get her to pay us any attention for the picture. She was VERY focused on that sucker!
(Also note my new Big Lots find. I got this chair recently. They are made right down the road in Pontotoc, MS, and were selling them at our local store. They are a much better deal than the PB chair I've been eyeing all year, so I decided I couldn't pass it up!)
Emily has finally decided (after almost 21 months of life) that eating is a cool thing to do. Maybe it is the ear surgery reaping its benefits, but whatever the reason, she's eating pretty well on most days. :0) Here she was enjoying some cottage cheese after telling me she needed a little "nack." (snack)
In local news today.......EMILY WENT TEE TEE ON THE POTTY TWO TIMES!!
When she woke with a dry diaper, I asked if she wanted to go tee tee on her potty. A very sweet "nooooooo" was her reply, but after a little reminder of the Barney stickers waiting to be rewarded, she was all for giving it a try. She emptied her bladder, and I was so proud. She, however, was not half as excited about that part as she was about the part where we got to flush it and then......clean the potty! The two Barney stickers she got each time were pretty great, too! She also went after her nap, but I'm not pushing it at this point. Twice a day is good for now, right? :)
(Our camera flash has died, so our pictures are not very good.)
Emily played with Play-Doh today while I made supper. (Yes, you heard right- I cooked a real meal!) Emily loved pulling the Play-Doh off into tiny little slivers that went all over the place. It was totally worth the mess, because I got a lot done! This is the face she gave me when I told her to smile for the camera.....
Another bowl of cottage cheese......
(The eating is a big deal at our house!) She's getting pretty good with her spoon, although she was totally relying on her hand as a utensil in this shot.
She and Gran played a litte dress up this afternoon. It blows my mind that she'll walk around and play in this get-up, but she can't stand it when her towel is around her after her bath. She yells "tuck!" (stuck) and screams bloody murder. Seriously-- how could a towel feel constricting compared to a backpack, 3 purses, 2 necklaces, bunny ears, 4 bracelets, glasses,.........?
That's been the jist of the excitement at our house the past 5 days. Hope you all are having good weeks, too! We sure are enjoying this cooler fall weather!
