Sitting and Scooting

June 26, 2008 - 5 months old

Emily is starting to sit up really well. She's pretty stable and likes playing in this new upright position. My nephew, Nathan, gave her this train, and we realized it's one of her few really loud toys.... so, of course, she loves it! When the wheels on the train start moving the toy forward, her little body just slumps forward with it. She isn't quite strong enough to pull herself back up straight again, so we have to give her a little help.

She's also scooting...backwards. She loves the fact that she is mobile, but she doesn't like the way her toys get farther away rather than closer as she tries to move and grab them. With all this scooting, we're starting to find her underneath things around the house.

I remember crying when Megan outgrew her dolls and hair bows. It was so sad packing them up to put in the attic! However, the good news is that I got to get them all down from the attic and clean them up for my granddaughter! What a happy day and such special memories!! Emily has so many of Megan's dolls to play with now, and there are still boxes of Barbies in the attic for her to play with as she gets older. I'm so glad I saved all of them.

Angie, I meant to place the above comment under "Cleaning Out." Somehow it ended up under "Sitting and Scooting." I guess you wondered what the above comment had to do with Emily sitting up and scooting!
