My class planted a cabbage patch at school, and we've been busy weeding and watering it. We even got some fertilizer out this week. We're growing oversized cabbages on a little plot of land beside the bus loop, and my kids are SO EXCITED about it. They talk to the plants and want to check on them every day.
When we started I got really tickled with them because they had no clue what to expect. Most of them live in areas where there's no available land to plant, so they had all sorts of questions. They even asked me if they needed to take the plant out of the little pot before they put it in the ground. One of my students got worried when the weather got cloudy. He thought he was supposed to take the plant out of the ground when strong rain showers came! They've come a long way in the past two weeks, thankfully! They even got to see a few worms peeking out of the ground after it was tilled.
The photo above is a shot we took on planting day. I thought all those little hands were so sweet! There were so many little helpers that it took us twice as long to get the plants in the ground, but it was worth the wait.

How fun. You are such an awesome teacher!!
Love the hand picture! When I saw the title I thought this was going to be about the cabbage patch dolls. Clearly I spend too much time in toy departments. :)
You really are an amazing teacher Angie.
Hey Angie - Yes it is a first year resident, but they are from Macon, GA. WE are waiting for an engineer to come look at the foundation to make sure everything is good with it, then hopefully they will make a decision. That Yazoo clay! Ugh. We have never had any problems so hopefully it will be okay! Have you guys sold your house yet???
I certainly never had a teacher who taught us how to grow plants! You really must be a wonderful teacher, Angie. I am more certain than ever that I couldn't do your job because I don't have the creativity!
Angie,
You are such a wonderful teacher. I think the teaching profession will miss you dearly when you "retire." You have blessed the lives of so many children!
I wish so badly that us girls could come with Eric! Unfortunately, they planned his class for Wed and Thurs, which means I would have to take almost 4 days of work off. It would be so much fun though! We'll just have to look forward to Tupelo this summer!
I love you!!!!!
That is so cute Angie. I know you are the best teacher and leave an incredible impression on those kids lives.
