A Taste of Motherhood

A few days ago, I had a glimpse into my days as a mother. You know, those hectic days where fourteen things happen at once. I was heading out of town with the dogs, and as usual, things didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. I was on the interstate, almost to my exit, when I felt something wet in my lap. I pushed Belle and Beau to the side of the driver's seat and found the surprise that Belle had left for me. If you have a weak stomach, stop reading now.

I looked down and saw a huge pile of chunky throw-up in my lap. Belle had gotten car sick and puked on the steering wheel. It had dripped down the steering wheel and onto my lap and the seat. I quickly scooped up both of the dogs and moved them to the passenger seat. I grabbed whatever I could find to start wiping things up, and in the process, missed my exit. I noticed Belle was being quiet (not a good sign) and looked over to see that she had gotten sick again in the passenger seat. I was now trying to juggle the napkinfuls of mess, keep two dogs from spreading the nast, and was trying to find a way back to my missed exit.

I ended up stopping by two gas stations before I found one big enough to sell some sort of wet wipe. I kept hoping I'd see a mom with a baby bag. Any mother would understand and give me some baby wipes to start cleaning up this mess. I had a large brown spot on my jeans leg, and I didn't exactly smell fresh at this point. I managed to get some Clorox wipes and get everything cleaned up. Belle fell asleep, and Beau settled down long enough for me to get back on the road.

As gross as it was, it made me laugh. I know most of you moms out there have had something like this happen at least a dozen times! It made me smile as I thought about all of you with your babies and toddlers.... and how it's all worth it to be a mom!

So, hats off to all you moms out there! The many crazy situations you go through are appreciated. You handle them with grace and care for your children with an unimaginable amount of love!

I'm impressed at how you handled things! I don't know that I've ever handled anything "with grace" but by God's grace you learn to get through it! :) Happy Thanksgiving!

HaHa! I wish I could have seen your face through all this. Somehow I picture you still had your big beautiful smile.
